DESCRIPTION:We will meet at FUNABORI Station (Shinjuku Line) outside the ticket gate at 1:00pmn\, and then go to the Arakawa River and pick up trash for about 3 to 3.5 hours. Afterwards some members may have a river side dinner picnic or go to a nearby restaurant for dinner (participants will decide based on weather\, etc.) \nRecommended: Wear appropriate clothes for the weather and generally older clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Rubber boots are optional for this event. They could be used if the tide is low but there will be dry areas to clean as well. \nIf you come late\, walk to the river (about 20-25 min to our location) and look for us at the water line about 100-200 meters down stream from the Shinjuku Line bridge. DESCRIPTION:In consideration of recent Corona Virus measures for distancing and the Tokyo’s governor’s request to for people to not go out this weekend\, our Mar. 29 (Sun.) event at Minami Sunamachi is being adjusted as follows: \n1. Let’s limit participation only to people who can come by bicycle or car (not using public transportation) \n2. The meeting time will be 1:20 at the waterline next to the Tozai Line train bridge. (So there will be no meet up at the station\, but rather people will go to the river directly.) \n\n3. The fewer number of participants will avoid close contact\, no shaking hands\, talking from a bit of distance\, etc. \n4. Participants can come any time on Saturday or Sunday and collect trash along the walkway on the map. Just use your own trash bags for burnable trash and dump everything else in a pile next to the bag(s)\, which can be left on the ridge just above the walkway. I will collect and sort these later. David Howenstein will be out there on Saturday and I’ll be there on Sunday. So\, this activity can be done alone or in a small group\, which will meetup Sunday from 1:20pm riverside. Then\, if participants avoid public transportation\, I think we can fall within recent guidelines for distancing. \n5. SUMMARY:Arakawa River Clean Up (at Funabori)
DESCRIPTION:This weekend’s Arakawa River Clean Up event will again be adjusted away from a group activity to more of an individual effort due to the ongoing Corona situation. Basically this will be as follows: \n1. Please refrain from using public transportation (trains\, buses\, etc.)\, so participants should only people living nearby who can come by bicycle or car. \n2. We will omit group activities\, e.g.\, meeting at the station and going to the river together\, dinner afterwards\, etc. Just go to the river directly. \n\n3. I am designating the target area below\, and people can go anytime this weekend (Sat. or Sun.) or even next week and collect trash using your own clear bags. The blue area is very easy and in need of cleaning. We already did the green area but there may be some new trash. Then\, the red area will be challenging but should be lots of trash. \n4. I and a couple of other regulars will be out there on Sunday from 10:00a.m. until dark. I’ll have bags with me. Optimal tide will be 9:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.. for accessing the line along the tetrapods. Participants can join our group at that time. Look for our trash bags set out on the road to find our location. \nThe group should not be large and we’ll just keep some distance during break times. Trash collection itself is basically a solitary activity\, so as long as it is okay to go outside for exercise like walks\, jogging\, etc. there should be no problem with people living nearby getting their exercise on the river. The blue area is very easy and in need of cleaning. We already did the green area but there may be some new trash. Then\, the red area will be challenging but should be lots of trash.\n\n\n4. I and a couple of other regulars will be out there on Sunday from 10:00a.m. until dark. I’ll have bags with me. Optimal tide will be 9:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.. for accessing the line along the tetrapods. Participants can join our group at that time. Look for our trash bags set out on the road to find our location.\n\n\nThe group should not be large and we’ll just keep some distance during break times. DESCRIPTION:*** NOTE: This event has changed to Aug. 22 (Sat.) ***\nSCHEDULE\nGather at Myoden Station: 13:00\nRiver Clean Up: 13:30-16:30\nRelaxing riverside: 16:30-17:00\nReturn to station by Car: 17:00-17:15\nNijikai Dinner at nearby restaurant: 17:30-18:30 \nRIVER CLEAN UP\nGather at MYODEN Station (Tozai Line) outside the only ticket gate at 13:00\, and then go to te Edogawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about about 3 hours. \nOPTIONAL MORNING SESSION\nAs I will be on the river in the morning doing some scouting and precleaning\, people welcome to join me at that time\, but please make specific arrangements with me by e-mail\, arrival time\, location\, etc. \nINFO:\nIf you come late\, it will be about a 25-min walk to our location on the opposite side of the river from the Clean Spa. Just walk to the river from the station and the head in the direction of Tokyo Bay until you see us along the water line. Also call my cell phone 090-1847-5075 if there are any problems finding us. \nRAIN:\nIn the event of light or medium rain this event will NOT be cancelled as we will move to and from the river by car and we can clean up under cover the bay front bridges as a Plan B as well as adjacent areas using rain ware. Just try some basic sorting\, e.g.\, burnable\, cans\, glass\, pet bottles\, etc.\, using your own bags or dumping all the nonburanble things into a pile for later sorting. \nINFO:\nIf you come late\, it will be about a 20-min walk to our location at the water line adjacent to the Tozai Line bridge.
