Seven volunteers (2 newcomers and 5 regulars) collected 15 bags of trash at today’s Arakawa River clean up near Nishi Kasai. The initial front end area was not so dirty as people had taken those hot spots last week. As we moved to the back end, which was much dirtier, the tide came up and pushed us out. A short while later, some light rain fell and then lighting in the distance followed by an arctic cold front that moved in on us with rain and strong winds. What started off as a beatiful day, even warm for January, turned into insane weather causing us to stop and leave early with me driving most of the participants back to the station. Better luck next week!
