Arakawa River clean up Sep 27, 2025
Two different groups collected 41 bags of trash at yesterday’s Arakawa River clean up event. In the morning, 15 students from Premier International IB Continuum School in Kathmandu, Nepal, who were visiting Japan for a week on their International Baccalaureate journey joined as part of their community service and global citizenship efforts. They focused on cleaning the pod area at the back angle, and then our regular group did the first cleaning of the 2nd Section of pods. About 2.5 years ago TRF took about 1,200 bags of trash out of this area, which was filled to the brim with trash, but did not clear cut and get it all. It looks like there may be about 300-400 bags remaining, which we will take in increments of 40 to 25 bags over 12-15 events as we clear cut the area this time. Just moderately dirty yesterday, it was a tough 41 bags to take out by slowly filling bags by the volunteers who made a great effort. Mina-san otsukaresama desu.
