Nine volunteers turned out for today’s Arakawa River clean up at Funabori and collected 37 bags of trash. This was basically a residual clean up. About half of the participants focused on smaller pieces of trash at the starting points while several people ventured out to to look for some patches of hotspots, which they found. Then, the water came in on us and pushed us out. But we tried to employ a new technique of fishing small pieces and microplastics out of the water using fishing nets, and it seemed to be very effective. The netting gomi photos can be seen at the end. Otsukaresama to everyone and special thanks to Onihira-san for most of the photos.
