Arakawa River clean up Feb 4, 2024
Thirteen volunteers collected 80 bags of trash (65 actual bags + equivalent of 15 bags on the large items) at today’s Arakawa River clean up event at Nishi Kasai. Although the morning rain let up, participants roughed it out through a cold afternoon in the mud. This was a freshley cut area right next to the Tozai Line train bridge. Anyone commuting on that train can see our work by looking at the window during the commute. Last year we removed about 200 bags of trash from this area with a grass cut along the edge where most of the trash had accumulated. I could see more further out and estimated that about 1/3 of the trash was remaining. This year we clear cut and went for it all, getting 80 bags today with maybe about 20-30 bags remaining to take. But we’ll get them on a future event. Big numbers today by a lot of people making a great effort. Mina-san otsukaresama!!!
