Twenty-six volunteers collected 62 bags of trash at today’s Arakawa River clean up event at Funabori. This was a two-part event with 14 students from Hong Kong University cleaning in the morning on the backside of the island and under the road bridge as well as at the Dirty Angle, collecting 21 bags. Special thanks to Tomomi-san for coming out to help with the students who were performing a social contribution activity during one week of foreign travel to Japan. Then our regular event was held in the afternoon with 10 volunteers collecting 41 bags of trash as we continued our efforts on the 2nd section of pods. Again, there were no hot spots, just a lot of pieces of trash spread out and really a great effort by everyone to collect it, including pulling a lot of things out of the mud. Special thanks to Suebayashi-san for taking over some of the grass cutting work, which allowed for a lot more progress. The weather was cold in the morning but became comfortable by mid-day. Then toward the end the wind really picked up making it uncomfortable again, but everyone persevered for a great result. Mina-san otsukaresama desu!
