Eight volunteers collected 61 bags of trash yesterday (53 actual bags + 8 equivalent for the large items) at yesterday’s Arakawa River clean up at Shinkoiwa. Continuing our main summer schedule on the Arakawa, we cleaned the backside of the island utilizing the shade of the overhead C2 highway, but it was still hot even with some breeze coming off the river. The plan had been to move toward the boat race area, but a large volume of old futons, blankets and other debris from an abandoned homeless spot kept us busy in one place.
