It was a “power event” (over 100 bags) on the Arakawa today with 14 volunteers collecting 110 bags of trash. Another group Kawanote Fan Club joined us for today’s effort, which resulted in the large amount of trash collected. When it comes to trash collection on the Arakawa, Kawanote Fan Club is essentially a special forces unit. Again, the weather was beautiful, and we made great progress on the second section of pods. Some members came late so there was a second effort after the main group left about 4:30. This second effort pushed us over 100 bags for the day.

Tokyo River Friends was founded in early 2017 by members of Jambo International in order to focus on regular monthly clean ups of Tokyo area rivers, which was an expansion of several clean up events per year that Jambo had been doing for two decades as part of its broader environmental activities.
